Power Plant In Bali To Begin Operations By May End

Denpasar, Bali (Antara Bali) -- State-owned electricity company PLN is scheduled to commence operating the Celukan Bawang steam power plant in Buleleng district in Bali by May 29, general manager for distribution in Bali, Syamsul Huda, said here on Wednesday.

"The power plant will begin operations on May 29 and will increase the power stock of Bali`s electricity grid," Huda added.

The high-voltage overhead line of the Celukan Bawang steam power plant, he pointed out, was connected two months ago, but the power plant cannot be operated directly.

"A few necessary commissioning tests need to be done, which we are in the process of carrying out," Huda affirmed, adding that the total power distributed from Celukan Bawang power plant is 380 megawatts (MW).

In the early stages, the total electrical power generated from the steam power plant will be 125 MW, followed by 125 MW the next month, and 130 MW in the final stage.

The Celukan Bawang power plant will increase Bali`s power capacity by 380 MW from the current 850 MW.
At present, peak electricity demand in the province is 781 MW. (WDY)
