Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo held a bilateral meeting with Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the sidelines of Asian African Conference 2015 here on Wednesday to discuss economic cooperation between two countries.
The meeting is a continuation of the bilateral meeting held when President Joko Widodo visited Japan on March 23, 2015.
Both leaders discussed the implementation of Japan's plan to improve its investment in Indonesia in infrastructure, transportation, maritime, and energy among other sectors.
President Joko Widodo encouraged the two countries to continue the negotiation on Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (P3B) to increase investment flow.
He hoped the financing scheme for the 140 billion yen Cilamaya and "shinkansen" railway projects that have been agreed can be immediately started. In addition to it, the president also hoped the investment plans of Japanese companies, including Toyota, Suzuki, and Mitsui, can be immediately realized.
Japan is one of Indonesia's biggest economic partners and its third biggest trade partner after China and Singapore. Trade between Japan and Indonesia in 2014 was recorded at US$40.17 billion. Japan's investment value in Indonesia reached US$2.7 billion in 2014 making it the second largest. (WDY)
