Cyber Crime Suspects From China, Taiwan Arrested In Bali

Denpasar, Bali (Antara Bali) - Some 39 suspects from China and Taiwan had been arrested from a luxurious villa in Indonesia's resort island Bali on April 4, 2015, for allegedly involving in cyber crimes, an Indonesian police office said.

"We are going to hand them over to the People's Republic of China's police today, as soon as we finish all administrative procedures," Chief of the Bali Provincial Police Inspector General Ronny Sompie stated here Monday.

The Indonesian police, he noted, are not handling the case because the suspects carried out their criminal activities outside the archipelago. "We just helped the Chinese police by capturing the criminals," he added.

On Saturday (April 4), all of the suspects were caught red-handed from a villa at Sekar Sari Street, Nusa Indah, Sanur, Denpasar, during a joint operation involving personnel from the Indonesian police headquarters, Bali provincial police, and Denpasar Timur police precinct.

The Chinese police representatives have arrived in Bali, he revealed, adding that if they were not caught, the suspects would have continued carrying out cyber crimes by targeting those living in China. (WDY)
