Indonesian President Joko Widodo to Visit Japan

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo and First Lady Mrs. Iriana Widodo will conduct a state visit to Japan from March 22 to 25.

The Japanese Embassys Deputy Chief of Mission to Indonesia, Yusuke Shindo, said here on Tuesday night that as part of their trip, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Mrs. Iriana Widodo are scheduled to meet Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko on March 23.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will also receive President Jokowi and his entourage on the visit. According to Shindo, the itinerary of President Jokowis trip to Japan is still being discussed by the Japanese government and its Indonesian counterpart.

"The discussion is underway, but President Jokowi will most likely visit major Japanese industries and some ports," he stated.

A few members of Jokowis working cabinet, including Trade Minister Rahmat Gobel and Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, will join him during the trip.

After visiting Japan, President Jokowi is also scheduled to visit China to attend Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2015. The invitation for President Jokowi to visit Japan was first conveyed by former Japanese prime minister Yasuo Fukuda, who attended his presidential inauguration in October last year as the Japanese special envoy.
