Basarnas Chief Will Visit Families of The AirAsia victims

  Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) chief Air Chief Marshal FH Bambang Soelistyo said that he will visit families of the victims of the AirAsia crash on Wednesday (January 13).

         "Tomorrow afternoon, I will go the victim's family. I will explain about the expectations and realities related to the evacuation of casualties," Bambang Soelistyo said here on Monday.

         He remarked that he will submit a detailed evacuation of casualties related activities such as the initial process, the principal and the end of the SAR process.

         "There are stages of SAR operations that need to be explained," he said.

         Bambang said the explanation in connection with the possibility of not finding the victim in the future.

         "Officially, evacuation operation will be terminated, in which case the joint operation," he said.

         Nevertheless, he told the daily SAR operations in the area of the crash will continue to be held by reducing some of the elements.

         "After that, Basarnas will conduct daily SAR operations. It means we keep looking for the victims without involving many parties," he added
    Previously, Commander of the Indonesian Military (TNI) General Moeldoko said that the search for the bodies of the victims and the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) of AirAsia flight QZ8501 has not yet been completed.

         "I have told my soldiers that the search has not yet been completed because the CVR and more bodies of victims of the AirAsia plane have to be tracked down," Moeldoko stated here on Monday.

         He was grateful that they did not face any obstacles while lifting the Flight Data Recorder (FDR).

         The joint SAR team had a deadline of only 15 days to find the CVR as the battery of the object lasted only 30 days.

         "There are 81 divers ready to dive. I believe we can find the CVR," he emphasized.

         Moeldoko affirmed that the search for the victims' bodies would continue to be carried out in accordance with government policies.

         With regard to the removal of a large portion of the fuselage, the military commander has discussed the simulation of lifting the fuselage of AirAsia QZ8501 with the air force chief of staff (KASAU) and the navy chief of staff (KASAL).

         "The process will be simulated in Jakarta with the commander of the western fleet and commander of air force operations present because the weight of the AirAsia aircraft's fuselage will probably necessitate additional tools," he explained.

         Moeldoko also pointed out that the TNI would optimize the potential of a joint team from the navy, air force and the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT), which has the tools to detect objects under water.

         He believes that the search and rescue operations would be performed quickly by them. (WDY)
