Jokowi Pushes for One-Stop Service System for Investment Permits Issuance

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo, or popularly known as Jokowi, announced that he will give six months' time to the country's related authorities to develop a one-stop service system for the issuance of new investment permits.

"I will give three to six months' time, everything must be ready by that time," Jokowi stated while attending the CEO Forum Kompas event here on Friday.

The president highlighted the need to have a one-stop service system that would speed up the issuance process for investment permits for all entrepreneurs keen on investing in Indonesia, thereby circumventing the time-consuming process of obtaining permits from various ministries, which is the current practice being followed in the country.

"Many times, potential investors get frustrated with the complicated rules to get investment permits," Jokowi pointed out.

Jokowi proposed the one-stop service system to be rolled out by the Coordinating Board for Investment (BKPM). Jokowi also said he wanted all local governments to propose their desired areas of investment, which could boost the production of value-added goods.(WDY)
