VP Grateful Indonesia Runs Democracy Peacefully

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla has expressed his gratitude that Indonesia could run democracy by conducting the recent two general elections namely legislative and presidential polls peacefully.

"We are grateful that in the recent two polls, there was no conflict that took human life as happen in other countries," he said in his address at the golden jubilee of the Golkar Party here on Tuesday evening.

He further said, in some Asian countries, conflicts always occurred which left not a few of casualties such as in Thailand, the Philippines, India and Pakistan.

Jusuf Kalla, better known as JK, stated that it's not easy to run democracy in a country without the role of political parties.

On the occasion, JK said that he shared the view with the Golkar Party's general chairman Abu Rizal Bakrie on how to run the democracy as good as possible to reach the goal.

According to the vice president the new government will not moves well and dynamic if there is no criticism and supervision.

"If our leaders are successful to lead well, God willing all of us will enjoy the results.  Conversely, if there is no result, it will sacrifice all this nation, JK warned.

In the meantime, the Golkar Party Chairman Aburizal Bakrie said the position of his party now is a true friend of the President and Vice President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Jusuf Kalla (JK).

Golkar as a true friend will remind (government) if necessary and be critical, as well as provide alternative solutions, so that the critical stance is not merely becomes an expression of the difference, Aburizal Bakrie. (WDY)
