(Antara Bali) - Another patient suspected of suffering from the MERS
disease was admitted in the M Djamil general hospital in Padang, West
Sumatra, increasing the number of suspected MERS patients to three.
"Another patient from Bukittinggi was admitted in the M Djamil
general hospital at around 5.30 p. m.," the hospitals chief of public
relations Gustavianof said here on Thursday.
The new patient named Nuru, aged 77, was suspected to have been
infected with the MERS virus after she developed fever, cough and
breathing troubles, following her return from a minor hajj pilgrimage in
Saudi Arabia.
She, along with 21 others in her group, had gone for a pilgrimage to Mecca and Medinah.
She had suffered from a fever, since she was in Medinah. She had a
fever for two days and was placed at a hotel before being taken to the
hospital.
"After that, my mothers condition improved, and she was able to
conduct the tawaf rite at Baitullah, but then she had a relapse of fever
and finally was taken to the nearest hospital there," her son, Salman,
aged 60, said.
Nurus conditions worsened and her fever continued for a week.
"Yesterday, my mother was treated in the hospital in Bukittinggi, but
doctors said she had MERS and so on Thursday she was referred to the M
Djamil hospital," he said.
The hospital at present is treating two other patients, who are also suspected to have been infected with the MERS virus.
On Thursday afternoon, a patient named Zabinar, aged 86, from
Pariaman was admitted to the hospital on suspicion of being infected
with the MERS virus after visiting a camel husbandry site and a horse
race field in Qatar, while on a visit to the region for a minor hajj
pilgrimage. (WDY)
