Denpasar (Antara Bali) - One hundred police officers were deployed to assure the safety of Miss World contestants visiting Kertalangu Cultural Village, Denpasar, Bali province on Saturday afternoon.
"We have deployed 100 police officers, consisting of personnel from East Denpasar Police, Denpasar Police, and Bali Police," said East Denpasar Police Chief, Adjunct Commissioner Lazuardi M, here on Saturday.
Lazuardi added that Gegana, the bomb disposal squad, has also been sent to Kertalangu, along with two bloodhounds, to help secure the area before the contestants arrive.
He denied that the increased security was excessive, adding that it was in line with standards of security. (*/M038)
