London (Antara Bali) - Indonesia has imported more beef cows from Australia in two shipments after last week's Idul Fitri, the Islamic holy day celebrations.
The first shipment was with the Brahma Express, which carried 576 beef cows and 3,376 feeder cows.
The second shipment was with the Ocean Drover, which carried 9,000 beef cows. Both ships have left Darwin for Tanjung Priok, Ardian Nugroho, first secretary at the Indonesian consulate in Darwin told Antara London on Monday.
Earlier before Idul Fitri, Indonesia already imported 8,990 beef cows from Australia.
The Indonesian government has issued license to import up yo 25,000 beef cows until end o this month, Nugroho said.
During in the ship the cows were under scrutiny of veterinary paramedics from the Agriculture Quarantine Agency to guarantee that they remain healthy, he said.
He said they are expected to arrive in Jakarta's Tanjung Priok port in four or five days after departure from Darwon. (*/DWA)
