Jakarta (Antara Bali)- The AirAsia Indonesia Airlines has launched its maiden flight from Bali to Malaysia's city of Kota Kinabalu, as its 11th route during January-July 2013 period, the airline's official said.
"We are committed to continue providing new routes for the community, and Bali - Kota Kinabalu is one of them," said the AirAsia President Director Dharmadi in its press statement here on Sunday.
According to him, the AirAsia Indonesia operates Bali - Kota Kinabalu route on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays in two hours 30 minutes respectively.
Through the AirAsia flight schedule, passengers originating from Bali can continue their flights from Kota Kinabalu to various destinations such as Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shenzen, Hong Kong, and Taipei. "On the other hand, tourists can go to Bali for holidays via Kota Kinabalu," he said.
In addition, the AirAsia currently also has route from Jakarta to Kota Kinabalu three times a week since 2011, which was operated by the AirAsia Malaysia.
Dharmadi said further that Kota Kinabalu as the capital city of Malaysia's state of Sabah has several places of interests like the nature tourism and beaches.
"Kota Kinabalu as a tourism destination has a very famous tourist destination of Mount Kinabalu, diving spot and also the beautiful tropical rainforest located in Kinabalu National Park. While, Bali is also vary famous as an international tourist destination," Dharmadi noted.
Thus by opening of the Bali - Kota Kinabalu route, the AirAsia Indonesia airlines also has linked two renowned tourist destinations. (*/DWA)
