Jayapura (Antara Bali) - Deputy chief of Bank Indonesia representative in Papua and West Papua Eko Waluyo Purwoko described as encouraging the growth of banking and financial industry in the two provinces by the end of the first half of the year.
"It is reflected in the total banking assets, which grew 15.12 percent with third party funds growing 21.58 percent," Eko Waluyo said here on Saturday.
He said a strong growth of 29.38 percent was also recorded in credit disbursement with non performing loan relatively low at 1.81 percent much lower than the standard level set by the central bank.
"This gives us greater optimism that the economic condition is improving in the two provinces," he said.
He said a survey showed that household consumption also grew as indicated by a number of parameters such as consumer confidence index which grew 7.21 percent in June from the previous. (*/M038)
