Thousands of People Saw Off Tour de Singkarak Cyclists

Bukittinggi (Antara Bali) - Thousands of people here on Sunday saw off 142 cyclists who started competing in Tour de Singkarak (TdS) international bicycles race in West Sumatra that will last from June 2 to 6.

The cyclists grouped in 21 teams, 15 of which are foreign ones, started from Jam Gadang (Clock Tower) Park.

Some of the visitors, Rusman along with his two children and another visitor Tika Rahim, expressed their wish to look on the bicycles racers, who many of them from foreign countries.

The first stage of the TdS kicked off at 10.00 a.m. Western Indonesia Standard Time (WIB).

The racing event was opened by Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Mari Elka Pangestu at the historic city of Bukittinggi.

In effort to make the event a success, Bukittinggi police office deployed around 600 personnel to help secure the TdS) international bikes race. (IGT)
