Rome (Antara Bali) - Sixteen people were injured in an accident at Rome's Fiumicino airport on Saturday night when an ATR 72 aircraft went off the runway during landing.
Two of the injured were in serious conditions, according to AGI news agency. Forty-six passengers and four crew members were on board when the accident occurred.
The plane, which failed in its attempt to land on runway number 3, rolled off and tilted to the right wing. The main part of the aircraft lay on the grass and the right gear was gutted with the blades of its right propeller seriously damaged.
Italy's flight safety agency has dispatched an investigator to start a probe into the accident, local media reported. (*/Xinhua-OANA/DWA/T007)
