Minister Roy Hoping Blessing of The King

Yogyakarta (Antara Bali) - Newly appointed Youth and Sports Minister Roy Suryo asked for the blessing of the Yogyakarta governor, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, when they met here on Saturday.

"I met the Sultan (the governor) to seek his blessing as part of the relationship between a king and his citizens, hoping for success in performing the duties of a minister," Suryo said after meeting with the Sultan here on Saturday.

Apart from his role as a special provincial governor, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X is also the Sultan, or king, of the special province of Yogyakarta.

According to Suryo, handling the role and responsibility of a minister is quite difficult, especially with regard to making decisions. Thus, he needed the blessing of the Sultan and the people to ensure he makes the right decisions.

Roy Suryo also noted that he had received lessons and advice from the Sultan, mainly about the need for consistency and firmness in making decisions, especially while dealing with conflict. (*/T007)
