Yogyakarta (Antara Bali) - The State-owned railway company PT Kereta Api Yogyakarta Operational Area VI (KA Yogyakarta) has predicted that around 8,500 passengers will surge the stations during the peak of Christmas and New Year 2013 holiday seasons, according to a KA Yogyakarta spokesman.
"The peak of surging passenger has been predicted to occur from December 26 to January 1, 2013," said Sri Winarto on Sunday, acting as the public relation of KA Yogyakarta.
The number of 8,500 passengers was only counted based on the far distance occupation which rose 20 percent compared to normal days, according to him.
"To anticipate the surge of passengers during Christmas and New Year 2013 holidays, KA Yogyakarta has prepared extra Argo Dwipangga trains to be operated from December 21 to January 6 2013," he said.
Winarto added that the trains will serve Solo Balapan-Jakarta Gambir route with the capacity of 350 passengers.
"However, the tickets will likely be sold out around those dates, especially from Yogyakarta to Bandung, Surabaya and Malang," he continued.(*/M038)
