Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Ruling Democrat Party legislator Sutan Bhatoegana visited the family of the late Abdurrahman "Gus Dur" Wahid here on Thursday to offer an apology for his recent statement that the former president was "not clean".

"Pak (Mr) Sutan has offered a sincere apology to our family. Therefore, on behalf of all Nahdliyins (Nahdlatul Ulama organization followers), we have accepted it," Gus Dur's daughter Yenni Wahid said after the meeting held at her family residence in Ciganjur, South Jakarta.

Sutan, accompanied by party general chairman Anas Urbaningrum and first party deputy general chairman Johnny Allen Marbun, arrived at Gus Dur's residence at 11.45am.

They were received by Gus Dur's wife, Shinta Nur Wahid, and his daughters Yenny and Inayah Wulandari Wahid, along with board members of the East Java chapter of the Nahdlatul Ulama's youth wing, GP Ansor.

Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), one of the biggest Islamic organizations in the country, was once led by Gus Dur. Therefore, he is still highly respected among NU members. (IGT/T007)
