Rupiah Falls Slightly Against US Dollar

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian currency rupiah lost its value slightly against against the US dollar in inter-bank transactions on Wednesday.

The rupiah weakened 2 points  from 9,458 to 9,460 on expectation the US central bank was to announce third quantitative relaxation next month.

"Market players tend to restrain  from doing transactions  with the expected announcement of the third QE,"  Milenium Danatama Sekuritas market observer Abidin said  here on Wednesday.

Abidin said US economic data showed unemployment rate rose  not as expected  giving more reason for investors to believing that the FED  would announce the third QE.

Meanwhile,  Monex Investindo Futures analyst Johanes Ginting  said growing expectation that the European Central Bank (ECB) would act to cut  Spanish and Italian costs of loans  could lift  the value of risky currencies including rupiah.(IGT)
