No Special Treatment For Governor Police Academy

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Police have said no special treatment would be given to the governor of Police Academy that has been named suspect in an alleged corruption case.

"The case is being handled by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) using the existing mechanism. No special treatment will be given to the suspect," the National Police's head of public information bureau, Brigadier General Boy Rafli Amar, said after a press conference at the KPK Building here on Tuesday.

At the press conference KPK spokesman Johan Budi said KPK has since July 27 named Inspector General Djoko Susilo, the former head of the Traffic Police Corps, suspect in the alleged corruption in the procurement of car simulators at the office.

KPK searched the Traffic Police Corps office from Monday to Tuesday and had also questioned 33 personnel at the National Police Headquarters for evidence.

Johan said the police and KPK have the same spirit with regard to corruption eradication.

"The police have no intention (to hinder investigation), which is done transparently, accountably, objectively and proportionately. We have already cooperated with KPK in many cases," Boy said.(IGT)
