Denpasar (Antara Bali) - The number of foreign visitors to Bali rose 5.57 percent on-year to 220,700 in May 2012, the Central Statistic Agency (BPS) of Bali said.
The number, however, was 2.12 percent smaller than in the previous month,BPS head Gede Suarsa said here on Tuesday
The visitors came mainly from Australia, followed by China, Malaysia, Japan and South Korea, Gede Suarsa said , adding Australian tourists made up 27.8 percent of the total.
The visitors in May brought the total number of foreign tourists to Bali to 1.16 million in the first five months of this year , up from 1.06 million in the same period in 2011.
The growing number of tourists contributed to an increase in the occupancy rates of hotels in Bali.(IGT)
