Denpasar (Antara Bali) - The Denpasar district court on Monday sentenced a South African national to 15 years in jail for smuggling in more than five grams of crystal methamphetamine (shabu-shabu) in October last year.
The court also required the 38-year-old South African national, identified as Kedibone Sheilla Motsweneng, to pay a fine of Rp1 billion or face another year in jail.
In his court verdict, judge AA Ketut Anom Wirakanta who presided over the panel of judges said the defendant had proven guilty of importing first-class narcotic of shabu-shabu type weighing more than five grams.
Customs officers caught Kedibone at Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar on October 23 last year upon arrival from Singapore by SQ 942 flight.
The customs officers found 2.458 kg of shabu-shabu wrapped up in paper coated with black cellophane tape on the hollow of her suitcase.(IGT)
