Denpasar (Antara Bali) - The family of 31-year-old Ni Luh Endang Susiani, who was killed by robbers in South Carolina in the US, hopes that the criminals are sentenced to death.
Putu Artana, the father of the Indonesian migrant worker, while waiting for the arrival of his daughter's body at the Ngurah Rai airport here on Wednesday, said that he respected the US judicial system and hoped that the robbers got a death penalty because his daughter had been killed cruelly.
He said his daughter had gone to the US to work so that she could help her family, adding that she was a joyful girl and very responsible with all family members.
Susiani, a villager from Bubunan in the district of Buleleng, had paid for the education of her five younger siblings, with the hope that they would become successful in the future.
"My older sister was a joyful person and loved all her sisters and brothers," the victim's younger sister Dewik Suryani said. The body of Susiani is scheduled to be cremated on May 14.
She was shot by robbers in South Carolina on May 27 after she had done her laundry and was about to return home after dinner with her fiancé Wayan Arum. While she was getting into her car, two robbers came and asked her to hand over her bag and other valuables.
Then the robbers got hold of the victim and fled with the car, leaving Wayan behind. He later reported the incident to the police who subsequently caught the robber. The next day, Susiani was found dead with gunshot wounds on a roadside.(*/T007)
