Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Forestry Minister Zulkifli Hasan has asked domestic businesses to help Indonesia develop a green economy, including in the mining industry.

"There is an obligation for firms in the forestry sector to develop green mining, by reclaiming forest areas and helping in the development of surrounding communities," the forestry minister said here on Thursday.

Speaking at the opening of the 4th IndoGreen Forestry Expo 2012, the minister said that developing a green mining system would help domestic products become a premium in the world market. In the stock exchange, there are already shares being offered with environment-friendly labels.

"Green mining has been included in the green economy program that was launched by President Susilo Bambang Yudhono in 2010," the minister said.

During the event, the minister delivered a token of appreciation to the Ex-Mining Forest Reclamation Forum (FRHLBT).

"A total of 28 firms have joined the FRHLBT and are now carrying out forest restoration," FRHLBT Chairman Jeffrey Mulyono said at the function.(*/M038/T007)
