Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Vice President Boediono inaugurated the Indonesia Environment Week (PLI) exhibition at the Centrawasih Hall of Jakarta Convention Centre here on Thursday.
In his opening address, Boediono praised the Ministry of Environment for organising the PLI from June 14-17, 2012, and encouraging numerous major companies to take part in the event.
"It is good that many major companies are participating in the event, because they must be active in environment-related activities," the vice president said.
According to Boediono, the business world should be active in providing new technology to support environmental activities through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.
"Corporate Social Responsibility is important. Companies that make a fortune on the soil of Indonesia are required to return some of it in the form of useful programmes, including the ones for creating a green economy," he stated.(IGT)
