Police Crack Down Protesters Violating The Law

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The national police chief, General Timur Pradopo said that police are obliged to uphold the law although they also facilitate the protesters.

"Demonstrations are allowed based on the law, but law violation  is not allowed," the national police chief said before attending the cabinet plenary session here on Saturday night.

"No tolerance for law offenders. We will crack down on law offenders," Timur Pradopo pointed out.

On the occasion, the police chief also said, police members were among the victims found during the street rallies, and investigation over the case has been conducted.

Street rallies against the government`s plan to raise the price of subsidized fuel oil on April 1, took place at various places in the country, including at the House of Representatives (DPR) complex from Friday morning (March 30) till evening.(IGT)
