Civil Servants warned of danger of consuming illicit drugs

Denpasar (Antaranews Bali) - The Denpasar Health Service in cooperation with police anti drug detective unit and the National Drug Agency (BNN) launched socialization of the danger of consuming drugs among the city civil servants.

Head of the Disease Prevention and Control of the City Health Service IB Eka Putra said here on Saturday drug circulation already penetrated all levels of communities .

"Therefore, drug crimes have been categorized as extraordinary crime that has to be dealt with seriously , and for that we cooperate with police and BNN in socializing the danger of consuming drugs, Eka Putra said.

He said socialization is one method of fighting drug trade and abuses by involving all including civil servants.

"The civil servants are expected to proceed with the socialization program in their families and neighborhoods," he said.

The socialization program would be followed with urine test among the Denpasar civil servants, Eka Putra said.

Earlier, head of the general subdivision of Denpasar BNN Putu Wiryawan Pritranaya said Indonesia is potential to become a drug trafficking target.

Putu quoted data as showing that 27.32 percent of school students , 5034 percent of workers and 22.34 percent of jobless people in the country had become victims of drug abuse.

Meanwhile, report from Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, said police have nabbed a drug trafficker in possession of 3.06 grams of methamphetamine.

"The suspect was picked up by anti drug police team from a house at Jalan Norman Umar, Kebun Sari, sub-district of Amuntai Tengah," police spokesman First Inspector Alam SAID in Amuntai on Friday.

The suspect identified as MP (30) had long been in the watch list of police until finally he was caught keeping the illicit drug in his house. (WDY)
