President Jokowi Leaves Vietnam for Manila to Attend ASEAN Summit

Da Nang, Vietnam (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) left Da Nang International Airport, Vietnam, for the Philippines on Sunday to attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Association (ASEAN) Summit in Manila. The delegation departed using the Presidential plane of Indonesia-1. 

The presidential entourage included First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Special Staff of President of Communication Johan Budi Sapto Pribowo and other officials. In thee ASEAN Summit in Manila, Indonesia will promote efforts to improve cooperation between ASEAN and its partner countries. 

 Deputy Foreign Minister AM Fachir earlier said that the spirit of inclusiveness Indonesia discussed at the 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Da Nang will also be presented at the ASEAN forum. 

 "The issue of inclusiveness is not only discussed at the global level but also in the regional and national levels," said AM Fachir, on Saturday (Nov 11). Before meeting at the ASEAN Summit, the leaders of ASEAN member countries have also met in the ASEAN-APEC forum held on 10 November 2017. 

 The meeting discussed about the need for synergy between ASEAN and APEC for e-commerce, human resource capacity development and synergy between the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and free trade areas in Asia Pacific. The ASEAN 2017 theme itself is "Partnering for Change, Engaging the World". (WDY)
