President Jokowi Visits Two Islamic Boarding Schools In West Java

Ciamis, W Java (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) visited two Islamic boarding schools during his visit to Ciamis in West Java on Saturday.

During the visits to the Darussalam and Miftahul Ulum schools, he discussed about the importance of preserving national unity and richness.

"Indonesia is very diverse. This is the destiny and law that God has given us. This is a blessing from God to us. Indonesia, with its population comprising various tribes, religious followers, and languages, spreads across 17 thousand islands," he stated at the Darussalam boarding school in the village of Dewasari.

He said Muslims in the country should not insult each other.

At Miftahul Ulum, the president explained about the law that has banned the former Communist Party (PKI) as well as its activities, and hence, in view of this, he called on the people to not be provoked by rumors about the resurrection of PKI.

"If I am asked whether I am associated with it, I will just say please check it," he noted.

On the occasion, President Jokowi also highlighted the potential of investment cooperation with several Muslim countries in the Arab region.

He revealed that the two Arab leaders -- Emir of the United Arab Emirates Sheik Muhammad and Sheikh Tamim of Qatar -- had planned to visit Indonesia.

Jokowi said he has urged Muslim countries in the Middle East to also invest in Indonesia besides Europe.

Jokowi said Muslim countries admitted to not having invested since no Indonesian officials had coordinated with them regarding the investment potentials in Indonesia.(WDY)
