Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The bomb attacker at Pandawa Park in Bandung city of West Java was a recidivist of a terror case who was involved in a military-style training in Aceh, a spokesman of the Indonesian Police said.

"The perpetrator has involved in a terrorism act while he attended military training camp in Aceh, and has also took part in some activities in support of this training camp. He was sentenced to three years in jail from 2012 to 2015," Senior Commissioner Martinus Sitompul said here on Monday.

Earlier in the day, a bomb exploded at the Pandawa Park area of Bandung city. The attacker was shot and died on his way to the hospital.

The police' preliminary investigation showed that the attacker, identified as Yayat Cahdiyat alias Dani alias Abu Salam, was a member of Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) in Bandung.

Martinus added that Yayat was a member of Ujang Kusnanang alias Rian alias Ujang Pincang's group. Ujang was an ex-prisoner in terrorism case for his involvement in a military-style training in Aceh and an attempt to hide a fugitive.

"He was related to a group in Cikampek, which was led by Ujang Kusnanang," Martinus remarked.

The Indonesian anti-terror squad (Densus 88) is investigating the possible involvement of other suspects, as an eye witness had earlier told the police that he saw the perpetrator ride along a motorbike with another person.

The police are yet to confirm Yayat's motive behind the attack.

Yayat was born in Purwakarta in June 24, 1975. He was a resident of Cukanggenteng Village, Pasir Jambu subdistrict of Bandung district. (WDY)
