Tommy Sugiarto Wins Thailand Masters Badminton Championship

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesian player Tommy Sugiarto came out as the champion of the men's singles event of Thailand Masters 2017 on Sunday.

In the final round at Nimibutur Stadium in Bangkok he beat host player Kanthapon Wangcharoen 21-17, 21-11.

This is the first champion title won by Tommy this year.

In the final match Tommy showed his best performance. He was left behind 0-2 in point collection in the start of the first game before the two then changed leadership in point collection and finally Tommy won the match.

In the second game, Wangchanroen who is a young player with an improving trend of performance, was unable to lead point collection but could only make a draw before Tommy ended the game in his favor 21-11.

All England 2017 would be the next tournament Tommy would take part. Tommy would also be in the list of players to play in the Djarum Super League Badminton 2017 in Surabaya.

"My target is playing as comfortably as possible to increase rankings and enter the list of 10 top players," Tommy said according to the All Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) website. (WDY)
