The studies will be implemented by the relevant ministries, the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), and the Agency for Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), among others, while the ministry/Bappenas will act as the coordinator, Minister Andrinof A. Chaniago noted here on Wednesday.
He explained that the planning studies will include feasibility studies, the projects' detailed engineering design studies, and the environmental impact analysis (Amdal).
Currently, a feasibility study is being conducted for a railway project in Papua.
The government hopes to accelerate the implementation of infrastructure projects in 2016 and has tasked the Bappenas to supervise them.
Therefore, the tendering and construction processes could start earlier in 2016, and hopefully, there would be no further delays in the implementation of the projects in 2016, he noted.
He remarked that a budget worth Rp1 trillion has been allocated for conducting planning studies that will be added to the budget of Bappenas.
In 2015, the government set a record budget of Rp290.3 trillion for infrastructure, but it would be of no help if implementation is delayed, he pointed out.
In 2016, the budget for infrastructure is expected to increase significantly in line with the government's acceleration program.
The government will offer several projects as part of the government-private partnership "PPP book" worth US$23 billion to private companies this year.
Projects to be funded with foreign loans and included in the "Blue Book" to be offered for the 2015-2019 period will be worth Rp39.9 billion.
Bappenas' Deputy for Development Funding Wismana Adi Suryabrata stated that the government will soon conduct feasibility studies for the construction of 49 dams during a five-year period.
"In January (2016), we will get a clear picture of which dams will first be constructed in 2016, and the rest will be built in the subsequent years," he added. (WDY)
