The Closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras are needed to transmit a signal to a specific place, on a limited set of monitors at various strategic places in Bali.
CCTV is often used for surveillance in areas that need monitoring such as banks, casinos, airports, military installations, and convenience stores.
The CCTV systems may operate continuously or only as required to monitor a particular event.
"We are going to install the required numebr of CCTV cameras in phases, and they will be controlled from the Disaster Management Operation Control Center (Pusdalops PB) and be integrated with the Bali police," Governor Made Mangku Pastika said here on Tuesday.
He said the installation of the CCTV cameras was expected to be completed in three to four years, depending on the availability of funds for the project.
"It can even be completed faster because of the participation from hotels, businessmen, and tourism management," Governor Pastika said.
He added that at least 68 CCTVs had already been put in place in the Nusa Dua resort, and almost all star-rated hotels in Bali were a;ready using the device.
Therefore, the governor expressed hope that the installation of at least 1,000 CCTV cameras in the province could be completed in less than three or four years.
He said Pusdalops PB in cooperation with with the Bali police was now able to monitor 12 strategic locations in Bali, among others Kuta resort, Simpang-Siur Kuta, Ngurah Rai airport, Benoa port, and Batur temple in Bangli district.
"We will place cameras at six other strategic locations this year," the governor said.
According to the governor, the installation of 1,000 CCTV cameras was part of an effort to realize security system with international standards in Bali because it was being supported by many parties.(*)
