Bandarlampung (Antara Bali) - A single-engine Fletcher FU 24-950 plane belonging to PT Sinar Indah Perkasa (SIP) crashed into a plantation area in Kampung Sidang Gunung Tiga, Rawajitu, Mesuji District, Lampung province, on Saturday, killing its pilot, police said.
The plane, which was carrying fertilizer, crashed into the area of PT SIP at 11.30 am about three minutes after taking off, according to Lampung Regional Police Spokesman Adj. Snr Comr Sulistyaningsih here on Saturday. "The plane was heavily damaged," she said.
The pilot was identified as Muhammad Adipura (47), a resident of the Bogor City, West Java. He died on the scene with injuries in the head and broken leg. "Police are inspecting the location, evacuating the victim and investigating the causes of the accident," said Sulistyaningsih. (*/M038)
