The fund originates from budget allocations for the West Sumatra Water Resource Management (PSDA) Office in the 2013 provincial budget, West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno said here on Sunday.
Coast conservation is an important part of the office's five activities carried out by involving a number of relevant parties, he said.
Under the province's short-and medium-term development plan 2011-2015, West Sumatra plans to build a total of 15 dikes to prevent coasts from abrasion. The project will be carried out in stages, with three dikes expected to be built each year, he said. (*/M038)
