Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Indonesia's largest telecommunication provider, PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom), has launched a service application called "Smart Tourism Ecosystem" in an effort to support the tourism sector of the country.
"We are providing this service in light of the current trends in tourism wherein people are using mobile applications instead of guidebooks to learn about a place," Telkom Head of Corporate Communication Affairs Slamet Riyadi said in a press release received here, Thursday.
Smart Tourism Ecosystem is a mobile application that provides comprehensive information about tourist spots across Indonesia. It also reflects our business portfolio of Telecommunication, Information, Media, Edutainment and Services (TIMES), he noted.
According to Riyadi, the mobile application can be useful for tourists and tourism stakeholders because it includes information about all business related to the tourism sector, such as hotels, airlines, restaurants, and motor vehicle rentals.
"The application can also enhance the capability of tourism industry players. They can be more efficient and effective by utilizing the platforms and solutions provided in it," he explained.
"This application is linked to the nationwide banking system and the payment systems of Telkom Group," Riyadi added.
Smart Tourism Ecosystem is a project of Bali Digital Society (Bali DiSo). The national project, entitled "Smart Cultural Island", has integrated the telecommunication networks of Telkom Group and developed the "one ID" and "one billing" systems, which include "end-to-end tourism ecosystem solution" and "richer consumer solution".(IGT)
