Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Chief of the Constitutional Court, Mahfud MD went to the office of the Corruption Eradication Commission to express his personal support to the anti-graft body.

"I am here not on behalf of the Constitutional Court (MK). I am not wearing a pin," Mahfud said upon his arrival at the KPK office here on Monday.

He stated that he came in his capacity as the chairman of the Association of Yogyakarta's Indonesian Islamic University Alumni (IKA-UII).

"We don't support the institution but its mission to fight corruption, because our main enemy is widespread corruption," he said.

Regarding the ongoing showdown between the National Police (Polri) and KPK, he charged that the corrupt are the ones who are happy and clap their hands.

He called on the police and the anti-graft body to develop a synergy and set aside their differences. Technical issues must not cause them to be involved in a conflict, according to Mahfud.(IGT)
