Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesian currency rupiah gained against the US dollar trading at 9,560 on Wednesday morning.
"US manufacture index weakened in August to 49.6 from 49.8 in the previous month," Samuel Sekuritas analyst Lana Soelistianingsih said here Wednesday.
The currency rose 20 points in inter-bank trade from earlier level of 9,580 gaining on weak performance of the US manufacturing industry, she said.
Index below the level of 50 indicated shrinking production or contraction, resulting in the dollar fall, she noted.
The dollar fall was also attributable to slowdown of US major trade partners the European Union, Japan and China, she said.
Meanwhile, Monex Investindo Futures analyst Johanes Ginting said rumors about developments in Europe continue to circulate keeping alive the hope that the European Central Bank would announce new steps to cut bond yield and to shore up the regional economy.(IGT/T007)
