Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian currency rupiah lost part of its value against the US dollar on Tuesday on uncertainty over the European debt crisis.

The currency weakened 10 points to the level of  9,510 per dollar  from 9,500 earlier in inter-bank transaction on Tuesday, Indosurya Asset Management analyst Reza Priyambada said.

He said investors still placed their funds in dollar to maintain asset value amid uncertainty in progress made to cope with the European debt crisis.

"The market players are still awaiting announcement of policy to cope with the crisis. Greek was reported asking for relaxation in time for fiscal tightening to be decided in September," he said.

Rupiah, however,  still has room for strengthening  with strong expectation of monetary relaxation policy by the Federal Reserve, he said.

Meanwhile, Monex Investindo Futures researcher and analyst  Ariston Tjendra  said  expectation of  quantitative relaxation  could weaken the dollar against other main currencies in the world  and lift the share prices.(IGT)
