Jakarta (Antara Bali) - One of the keys to the success of development of a country is the development of adequate infrastructures, a legislator said.

"Therefore, we will continue to support the increase in the infrastructure development every year," Marwan Ja'far, a member of the House of Representatives (DPR)'s Commission V on transportation and public works affairs, said here on Friday.

He said that in the support of the House, the government had raised  budget for infrastructure development by about two to three percent annually.

He said that shortage of budget was the main constraint that hampered the development of the country's infrastructures.

Marwan said ideally the funds for infrastructure development should reach about Rp300 trillion per annum, but in reality it was only about Rp75 trillion.

He said that in order to overcome the problem the government had introduced a Private Public Partnership (PPP) scheme which offered a chance for the private sector to take part in it.(DWA)
