Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Officers of the Directorate of Customs and Excise have failed an attempt to smuggle around 1.2 kilograms of marijuana through a postal service from the Netherlands.
The head of the Pasar Baru customes office, Zainal Abidin, said here on Tuesday the package was unveiled through coordination with postal service company PT Pos Indonesia and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN).
The illegal narcotic drug put in seven vacuumed plastic bags arrived at Soekarno-Hatta airport on May 11, 2012 and was detected as suspicious items at the Pasar Baru post office in Central Jakarta.
Following an X-Ray check officers discovered strange things in the package declared as containing cookies and sweets.
"As the detection occurred on Friday while Saturday and Sunday were holidays investigation could only be continued on Monday at around 10am by customs officers witnessed by officials from the post office," Zainal Abidin said.
BNN representative Police Commissioner Bugi Suhenda said at the address law enforcement officers had also discovered other kinds of narcotic stuff such as 230 grams of cocaine, 49 ecstasy pills, 8.9 grams of pot and 28 pieces of Happy Five.(IGT/T007)
