Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Some misunderstanding between members of the Army Strategic Reserves Command (Kostrad) and the Gorontalo police's Mobile Brigade (Brimob) led to a dispute between both sides, said Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander Marshall Agus Suhartono.

"According to the Kostrad commander, both Military Commander (Pangdam) VII Wirabuana and the Gorontalo police have reported that there were no conflict but only a misunderstanding between Kostrad and Brimob members," Marshall Agus Suhartono said here on Tuesday.

The incident began in front of Gorontalo regency's General Elections Commission (KPU) office in Gorontalo Province in the early hours of Sunday morning, when a group of Brimob members who were patrolling the area in a truck were suddenly attacked by an unidentified group of people who pelted the truck with stones and bottles.

Six members of the Kostrad and two members of the Brimob were injured in this incident. The former include Firman, who sustained chest and arm injuries; Yanders, who was wounded in his right leg; Tivliv, who was wounded in his thigh; Adrian, who was hit on his eyebrow; Raif, who sustained an arm injury; and Afriyadi, who received back and knee wounds. They are all second privates.

Meanwhile, two of the Brimob members - Chief Brigadier Asrul Sani and First Brigadier Saripudin - suffered head injuries.(IGT)
