Jimbaran (Antara Bali) - Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB) will be a new member of the ASEAN-European Academic University Network (ASEA Uninet), which will be inaugurated at an academic meeting to be held at the University of Udayana, Bali.

"There will be five universities to be inaugurated in the biannual meeting. One of them is IPB," President of ASEA Uninet, Prof. Ketut Suastika, said here Monday.

Therefore, the number of ASEA Uninet members will be 75 universities from 17 countries.

The five new members will describe their university profile in ASEA Uninet Plenary Meeting.

The international network is a forum to establish cooperation in the field of education and research in the academic world, Suastika said.

University of Udayana is the only college of Bali and from eastern Indonesia that is included in ASEA Uninet.

Other Indonesian universities are University of Indonesia, Airlangga University, Gadjah Mada University, and Bandung Institute of Technology, in addition to Diponegoro University, University of North Sumatra and Surabaya Institute of Technology.

The ASEAN European Academic University Network (ASEA-UNINET) is a network of universities, consisting of European and South-East Asian universities with the goal of promoting the continuous internationalization of education and research.

ASEA-UNINET was founded in 1994 by universities from Austria, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam as the Austrian-South-East Asian University Network and consists today of more than 70 universities from 16 different countries. (WDY)
