Malang, E Java (Antara Bali) - Titus Bonai, captain of South Sumatra's soccer club of Sriwijaya FC scored a single goal for his team which defeated Persegres Gresik United from East Java Province in the General Sudirman Cup tournament here on Thursday night.

The 1-0 score made Sriwijaya FC achieved full point in its first game of the General Sudirman Cup tournament that took place in the Kanjuruhan Kepanjen stadium.

Titus Bonai scored the goal in the 34th minute.

Since the kick off at the first half, Sriwijaya FC did not give an opportunity to Persegres to dismantle the former's defense.

At the second half, tempo of the game is not much different from the first half, even at the second half the game looks monotonous.

It was the second loss of Persegres Gresik United squad after being defeated by Arema 1-4 in the same stadium on Tuesday (Nov 10).

As many as 15 soccer clubs are participating in this soccer event that started on November 10. The tournament was initiated by the Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander.

The soccer tournament is being organized to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Indonesian military (TNI).

The General Sudirman tournament qualifiers that started on November 12 will continue till December 22, while the semifinal will be held in each of the semifinalist`s home (home and away format) from January 9 to 17, 2016.

Meanwhile the final round will take place at the Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on January 24, 2016. (WDY)
