Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla received former Timor Leste prime minister and president Jose Ramos Horta at his office here on Tuesday to discuss the economic and political sectors.

"We discussed how to enhance relations between Indonesia and Timor Leste particularly in the investment sector," Kalla said following a meeting with Ramos Horta.

Kalla said Ramos Horta also invited a number of Indonesian businessmen to invest in Timor Leste.

The vice president said the development of the economic sector in the neighboring country has made a lot of progress so that it needs a large number of professional workers such as building contractors.

At the meeting Kalla and Ramos Horta also discussed the role played by Indonesia in keeping global peace and security.

According to Ramos Horta, Indonesia has contributed a lot to global peacekeeping efforts including in Lebanon, Sudan and other Middle Eastern countries.

"Indonesia has changed significantly over the past 15 years, in which the economic sector has been running well and the political situation remains strong and stable although it faces a lot of tests," he said.

He said Timor Leste is determined to continue the existing good bilateral relations with Indonesia. (WDY)
