London (Antara Bali) - Indonesia has received an achievement award from the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for its success in completing the MDG round in the fight against hunger, a diplomat said.

The award was presented by the FAO Director General Dr. José Graziano da Silva to Ambassador August Parengkuan in his capacity as Indonesia's permanent representative at the UN body, spokesperson of the Indonesian embassy in Italy Nindarsari Utomo said here Monday.

The award was presented to Ambassador August Parengkuat and witnessed by Head of the Indonesian delegation Hari Priyono who participated in the UN body's 39th conference.

Besides Indonesia, 71 other countries, such as Angola, China, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal and Uzbekistan, also received the same award.  

Deputy of Indonesia's Permanent Representative Des Alwi said the award was part of international community's efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Indonesia has responsibility and commitment to meeting the MDGs and the Post-2015 Development Agenda, he said. (WDY)
