Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo installed General Badrodin Haiti as National Police chief at the State Palace, here, Friday.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Vice President Jusuf M. Kalla, several lawmakers, ministers, and the chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), among others.

During yesterday's plenary session led by Deputy Speaker Fadli Zon at the Parliament Building, the House of Representatives (DPR) approved the appointment of Commissioner General Badrodin Haiti as the new national police chief.

 All DPR members present during the meeting unanimously agreed to name Haiti as the country's new national police chief.  At the meeting, Chairman of the House's Commission III, Aziz Syamsuddin, elaborated on the process of the fit-and-proper test conducted on the police chief candidate.

He revealed that the process began with President Jokowi's letter on Haiti's nomination as national police chief candidate being read out at a House plenary session on March 23, 2015.

Following Haiti's nomination, Aziz explained that the House Commission III conducted a hearing with the KPK and the Financial Transactions Analysis and Reporting Center.  It also held a hearing with the National Police Commission on April 14 apart from receiving inputs from the University of Indonesia's Students' Council on April 15 and visiting Haiti's residence.
