Sukabumi, W Java (Antara Bali) -- Rescuers have found the body of the last of the 12 victims of the landslide on Saturday that hit Cimerak village in Sukabumi, West Java.

The victim was identified as Deni (40). "Deni is a resident of Warudoyong hamlet, Margaluyu village, in Sukabumi district," District Military Chief Lt. Col. (Army) Syaripudin said here on Monday.

He added that the search and rescue team had ended its operations because all victims had been found. However, this does not mean that efforts to mitigate disasters were stopped because his side was currently focusing on the relocation of residents affected by the landslide, he noted.

In addition, hundreds of residents who are still living in the disaster zone of Tegalpanjang village, Cireunghas sub-district, face the threat of subsequent landslides as they are close to the location of the 30-meter-high landslide that buried 12 residents.

The 12 dead victims were Maya (13), Aisyah (50), Sopardi alias Opan (56), Dede (40), Elsa (15), Egi (6), Jamilah/Nyinyin (37), Lisdiawati (4), Lilis (36), Abdul Muti (42), Aldi (12), and Deni (40).

According to Lt. Col. Syaripudin, thousands of rescue workers with heavy equipment were working on the site of the disaster to expedite the evacuation process. The landslides that followed heavy rain left 10 houses in ruins. (WDY)
