Taipei (Antara Bali) - The number of Taiwanese tourists visiting Indonesia last year rose 2.36 percent to 170,301 from a year earlier.

In December 2014, a total of 11,383 Taiwanese tourists holidayed in Indonesia, down 5.87 percent from the month before, Head of the Indonesian Trade and Economic Office (KDEI) in Taipei, Arief Fadillah said in a press statement released on Tuesday.

However, the increase is not in proportion to the rise in the number of Indonesians traveling to Taiwan, he said.

Last year, 182,704 Indonesian tourists visited Taiwan, up 5.57 percent from 2013.

In December 2014, 19,475 Indonesians visited Taiwan, a 49.6 percent surge compared to November 2014.

Indonesia is currently ranked 10th among Asian countries as destination of Taiwanese tourists. Almost 50 percent of Taiwanese tourists choose China and Japan to make a holiday. (WDY)
