Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (Antara Bali) - East Nusa Tenggara Governor Lebu Raya has appealed to the people to make President Joko Widodo's visit to the region on December 19-20 a success by maintaining a conducive atmosphere.
"Let us create a peaceful and conducive atmosphere among us, so that the visit of the head of state and his entourage to the region would go smoothly, and all his agenda could be carried out well, so that later, he will return to Jakarta with peaceful and comfortable feelings," he affirmed here on Friday.
He emphasized that the people's reputation as being tolerant and friendly must not be tainted.
He said the visit of the head of state would be very special as it coincides with the 56th anniversary of the province.
"This will probably be the first in the history of the region when the anniversary commemoration is being attended by the head of state and several foreign ambassadors," he pointed out.
The governor stated that President Joko Widodo would fulfill the promises made before being elected as president.
He recollected Joko Widodo's visit to the region when he was still Jakarta's governor and his commitment to promoting the development of animal husbandry in the region.
The anniversary commemoration event will be held at the square in front of the governor's official residence. (WDY)
