Nunukan, N Kalimantan (Antara Bali) - Malaysia has deported 80 problematic Indonesian migrant workers from Sabah through Nunukan District, North Kalimantan, immigration officials said.

Head of the Immigration Security Check Unit of Tunon Taka International seaport of Nunukan, Nasution said he had received the deported Indonesian workers on Thursday.

He said that the deported Indonesian workers consisted of 70 men and 10 women. They arrived at Tunon Taka International port aboard MV Labuan Eksress V at 5.30 local time on Thursday.

They were deported for various violations such as having no proper immigration documents, illegal drug cases and maltreatment. Some have served their jail terms in that country.

After police and officials from the Agency for Placement, Service and Protection of Indonesian Workers (BP3TKI) and Nunukan Manpower Service registered their data, the Indonesian migrant workers were then handed over to their respective families. (WDY)
